Texas A&M University Kingsville is a public research university located in Kingsville, Texas. It was founded in 1925. The university provides various programs to students across its five colleges. The university’s mission is to enrich the lives of its students around the world through discovery, service, and education. Texas A&M’s core values are Excellence, Integrity, Discovery, Service, and Opportunity.

The university is a member of the NCAA Division II and the Lone Star Conference. It offers various sports to both men and women. What are the eligibility and requirements for students?


The eligibility criteria for international students are:

Undergraduate Admissions

  • Students are required to have a high school certificate with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0

  • Students must have graduated from a recognized school or college 

  • ACT score of 21 is required

  • SAT score of 1050 is required (with a minimum mathematics score of 530)

  • English language requirements for undergraduate students are as follows:

Application & Tuition Fees


Is there any application fees?


The university charges an application fee of USD 50 to both undergraduate and graduate students. The application fee is non-refundable.

 


What is the fee structure of different courses available at the university?


The university charges tuition fees based on credit hours. The estimated tuition fee* for 15 undergraduate credit hours and 9 graduate credit hours for the year 2021-22 is shown below:

Scholarships & Financial Aid


Is there any scholarship or financial aid available for international students?


The university offers several scholarships and awards to international students. The scholarships are based on merit scores or the academic excellence of students. The scholarships awarded to international students are listed below:

  1. Study Abroad Scholarships: This scholarship is available to all international students enrolled in the full-time program at the university. Undergraduate students are required to have a GPA of 2.5, and graduate students must have a 3.0 GPA for this scholarship.

  2. Presidential Scholarship: A scholarship of USD 5,000 to USD 12,000 per year is awarded to graduates and undergraduates enrolled at the university. Students are selected based on merit and academic excellence. Students are required to have an ACT score of 27 or SAT score of 1300 to be in the top 10 percent.

  3. Academic Excellence Scholarship: A scholarship of USD 1,000 to USD 4,000 per year is offered to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the university. Students are selected based on merit and academic excellence. Students are required to have an ACT score of 24 or SAT score of 1170 to be in the top 10 percent.

What are the steps to the admission process?


International students can apply to undergraduate and graduate programs using the university’s admission portal.

The process to apply is as follows:

Step 2: If you are a new user, create an account.

Step 3: After creating an account, fill in your personal details, such as name, gender, date of birth, contact details, etc.

Step 4: Fill in your citizenship details, demographic information, education details, test scores, etc.

Step 5: After filling in all the information, review the application and submit it.

Next, wait for the results.

 


When will I hear from the university after I submit my application?


Students will hear from the university within an average time of two months days of submitting the online application. It might take longer for specific programs. However, students can check their application status using the university’s admission portal.

What are the chances of getting into this university?


The acceptance rate of the university is 77%. All the applications are assessed individually by the selection committee of the university. Students are selected based on the eligibility criteria and English language requirements.

Once shortlisted, students will be invited for interviews. If selected, students will be sent offer letters for admission. For more information, students are advised to check the university's website.

Part Time Work While Studying


Can I work while studying here?


International students are allowed to work on-campus and off-campus while studying at the university. Students are allowed to work for 20 hours a week while school is in session. During vacations and summer/winter vacations, students can work for more than 20 hours depending on the type of employment and enrollment in classes.

The eligibility requirements for international students are as follows:

  • J-1 or F-1 visa status is required to work in the country

  • SSN (Social Security Number) is required

  • Students must be enrolled in a full-time study program at the university

  • A valid study permit is required

Off-Campus

International students are allowed to work off-campus while studying or after graduating. However, students must have proper work authorization to work in the country. Students with J-1 visa status can work on academic training in their fields of study after completing one semester at the university. Students must be enrolled in a full-time degree program at the university.

How many colleges and campuses does the university have?


The university has only one campus in Kingsville. The campus is spread across 250 acres of land. The campus houses the following buildings:

  • Steinke Physical Education Center (SPEC)

  • Health and Recreation Building (HREC) and Annex 

  • Human Performance Laboratory (HPL)

The university also boasts its RELLIS Campus along with 5 Colleges.

 


Is on-campus housing available? How much does it cost?


The university offers both on and off-campus housing accommodation options to students. The residence halls at the university include Martin Hall, Lynch Hall, Mesquite Village West, and Lucio Hall. The facilities at these residence halls include furnished rooms, laundry facilities, electricity, 24/7 campus security, dining halls, internet, etc.
