The University of Tampa started as Tampa Junior College in 1931. It was officially named the University of Tampa in 1933. The university building was initially known as Tampa Bay Hotel, which was built between 1888 and 1891, with 5 floors and 511 rooms.
Today, it is a state-of-the-art campus with laboratories, administrative offices, and classrooms. It offers more than 200 programs which include 16 master's, one doctorate, two certificates, 10 concentrations, and three 4+1 programs. The university has 4 colleges, namely College of Arts and Letters, Sykes College of Business, College of Natural and Health Sciences, and College of Social Sciences, Mathematics, and Education.

There are 9,600 students in the University of Tampa out of which 50% are from Florida. It is also home to 1,400 international students who are from 132 countries and 50 US states. At the university, 92% of the students receive financial support with an institutional aid of $72 million. As of September last year, the university has assets worth $736 million and a projected annual revenue of $330 million. In the year 2018-19, it raised more than $14 million with an annual economic impact of $1.1 billion. Every year, the University of Tampa hosts more than 400 events, and 5,000 internships and 25,000 job opportunities are uploaded to the HIRE-UT page annually.
The University of Tampa is responsible for producing many notable personalities that have excelled in various fields like arts, politics, and sports. Rod Blagojevich was the former Governor of Illinois, Dick Greco - mayor of Tampa for four sessions, Bob Martinez - 40th Governor of Florida as well as the mayor of Tampa and Pete Peterson - former U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam and retired U.S. Air Force Colonel, are some of the celebrated personalities in the field of politics. Steve Boyett is a famous writer and DJ, Connie May Fowler and Amy Hill Hearth are both authors, and Joan Marie Laurer was a professional wrestler and actor. In sports, National Football League players - Freddie Solomon and Major League Baseball player - Tino Martinez are among the alumni of UT.

A. Candidates can start their application without having all the documents. However, the university requires all documents/scores to start the evaluation process.
Q. Does the University of Tampa offer scholarships to international students?
A. The University of Tampa offers a number of scholarships for international students. These scholarships are referred to as Graduate Assistantship positions. Graduate Assistantship is the financial aid option for UT’s Graduate program. Graduate assistantships are competitive and are awarded by the Office of Graduate and Continuing Studies. Academically qualified students will be invited to apply prior to the start of their first semester. Graduate assistantships are available each academic year to new full-time graduate business students.
