  • 3.0 GPA overall or in the last 60 hours of coursework
  • Students are required to complete two business courses totaling at least 6 credit hours. It is recommended that a student complete these before taking graduate CYB courses, but it is not a requirement. The two courses must be:
    • These may be waived if the student has completed a business degree in the past 7 years from an AACSB-accredited school and earned a grade of “B” or better in the course.
  • Required Information Technology Qualification foundation
    • CYB 501 Fundamentals of Information Security
    • Note: To waive CYB 501 course, students must earn a B grade or better in qualification courses in programming fundamentals, networking, and information security principles.
  • Candidates may use certifications and work experience to substitute for some or all of the IT courses
  • Professional work experience may be used as a substitute for a maximum of one of the three IT courses. The work experience must be full-time, paid, within the last ten years, directly relate to the substituted course and be verifiable. At least two years of full-time work experience is necessary to substitute for the specific course

  • GMAT waive
    • A GMAT or GRE score is recommended but will be waived for applicants with an undergraduate GPA of a 3.0 or higher and a "B" or better in the required four business essentials courses (ACC, QMB, FIN, ECO)
    • Previous Master’s Degree: Students with previous master’s degrees with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in a program from a regionally accredited institution, or international equivalent, can petition to waive the GMAT. The previous master’s program should have required an entrance exam (such as the GMAT or GRE) or the program had a significantly quantitative component to demonstrate quantitative skills. 
    • Beta Gamma Sigma: Students who attend(ed) AACSB accredited institutions and are an admitted member of Beta Gamma Sigma may apply for a GMAT waiver using the UT undergraduate academic benchmarks. 
  • ELP waiver
    • ELP requirement is ONLY waived for international students from the Commonwealth Caribbean, Bermuda, Canada, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
  • Interview may be conducted

A student with a record of previous graduate work that does not meet the UT criteria for good academic standing may be conditionally admitted to a UT graduate program. This student's cumulative GPA for all graduate work will be maintained, but a separate GPA for coursework in the new program will determine the student's academic standing going forth.
