  • Minimum Requirements :
    • Applicants normally will have completed (or will be nearing completion of) an undergraduate or advanced degree in Civil Engineering or related field, with emphasis on Structural Engineering, Mechanics, or Materials.
    • We recommend that students with a Structural Engineering emphasis take at least one or two courses in structural engineering, mechanics, and materials beyond an introductory course in structural engineering. However, applicants with other backgrounds are sometimes admitted based on special considerations.
    • Minimal background would consist of:
    • 2 years of college-level calculus (e.g. Math 1A, 1B, 53, 54 or equivalent)
    • 1 year of college-level physical science (e.g. Physics 7A/B or equivalent)
    • 1 semester of probability and statistics (e.g. CE 93 or equivalent)
    • 1 or 2 semester courses in in structural engineering, mechanics, and materials beyond an introductory course in structural engineering.
    • A satisfactory scholastic average, usually a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B) on a 4.0 scale; and
    • Enough undergraduate training to do graduate work in your chosen field.
