University of Cincinnati-Lindner College of Business Placement FAQs

Q. What is the acceptance rate of the Cincinnati Lindner MBA programme?

A. The acceptance rate usually varies every year but falls anywhere between 25% and 30%.

Q. What are the requirements for Lindner MBA application?

A. A good GMAT or GRE score and GPA, along with relevant work experience and English proficiency scores is imperative. Apart from this, the interview and essays also play a crucial part in the application process. The university accepts either IELTS or TOEFL scores as English proficiency proof.

Q. What mistakes to avoid in the application for Cincinnati/Lindner?

A. One mistake applicants can avoid is not doing enough research upfront about the programmes or university. The admissions process is a two-way street, so it is important that the applicants also get to know the schools thoroughly.

Q. Can I apply with a low GMAT score?

A. The Admissions Committee (AdCom) does a holistic review of all applications. It does not solely rely on GMAT or GRE score. While these scores are useful, AdCom wants to be sure to judge the applicant on their own merits and not just on the basis of some test scores. Thus, if you have a solid academic history, impressive career charts, professional certifications, and such, these things can outweigh a low GMAT score. So, yes, you are encouraged to apply even though your scores are low.

Q. What are some application process tips for getting accepted?

A. Here are some tips which you can follow to strengthen your application documents:
  • Resume: Keep it clean. Avoid too much fluff. Concentrate on substance and not fill up pages.
  • Letters of Recommendation (LORs): Avoid getting LORs from figurehead referees who don’t know you know well. Talk to referees who have had a close connection with or anyone with who you worked closely.
  • Essays: Be genuine and tell your story in a way that highlights your learnings.
  • Interview: Be yourself and be inquisitive. Assume it to be more of a conversation rather than a Q&A round where you only have to answer. You need to be interviewing them as well. Ask questions!
