Founded in the year 1957, the University of Hartford imparts quality education in various lucrative fields such as accounting, engineering, actuarial science, and architecture. Initially, the three founding schools of this university, namely the Hartt School of Music, Hartford Art School and the Ward School of Electronics, were opened. It was in the year 1957 that these three schools merged to form this university. In the year 1960, the first academic building of this college named Hillyer Hall was founded. Additionally, in 1991, this university launched its famous architectural engineering program. The Women's Advancement Initiative was started in the year 2006 to empower women and encourage female students. This university has 97 undergraduate programs, 64 graduate courses, and five associate degree programs.

Spread across wide parameters, the university's main campus is based in the Bloomfield Avenue. This campus has several academic buildings and provides accommodation to the students. Apart from this, the beautiful Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center is nearby the main campus of this university. The Asylum Avenue Campus is also close to the main campus and is home to the Construction Institute. All these campuses are equipped with several student-friendly features to improve the academic and residential life of the staff and students. This university is near to New York City and Boston. It offers shuttle services both on-campus and off-campus, to make transportation more manageable for the students. Additionally, this university offers several dining and health and wellness options to its students.
