University of Houston is a public research university located in Houston, Texas. University of Houston traces its origin to the year 1927, when it was established as Houston Junior College. The formal charter was passed in 1934, which led to the establishment of University of Houston. University of Houston became a state institution in 1963, and in 1977, it joined University of System, which is a group of ten public institutions of higher learning in the Houston area. From a humble beginning of 232 students, University of Houston has come a long way to become home to more than 47,000 students and being recognized as an R1 institution by the Carnegie Foundation for its high level of research activity.

Fertitta Family College of Medicine, College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics, College of Nursing, College of Optometry, College of Pharmacy, Graduate College of Social Work, College of Technology, and Hobby School of Public Affairs. The average tuition fee for out-of-state students is $27,110 and for in-state students is $11,870.
University of Houston admissions for Fall 2021 include a total of 47,031 students. Out of these, 37,833 students were enrolled in undergraduate courses, and 6,689 students were enrolled in graduate courses. International students comprised of 7.7% of the total enrollment. A total of 829 students were Indians. In addition, University of Houston has a faculty count of more than 2,800. University of Houston acceptance rate stood at 63%.
