The university offers over 130 UG, more than 110 PG courses, and several PhD programs. It covers a wide array of fields of study ranging from Liberal Arts, Management, Science and Mathematics, Nursing and Health Sciences to Human Development, Social Development, Environment, and Policy-based Global Studies. International undergraduate applicants need to complete high school education to be eligible for admission. Minimum GPA and subject-specific requirements differ depending on the major opted by the student. On the other hand, graduate aspirants must have completed the equivalent of a regionally accredited US university-level bachelor’s degree program. The university considers most four-year degrees equivalent to the degrees awarded in the US. Students are required to have obtained a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75/4.0 (or international equivalent) in their undergraduate program. However, this GPA requirement may differ for some courses. Additionally, any one of these English exam score need to be submitted:
Note: UMass Boston does not consider most international three-year degree programs equivalent, including the Indian Bachelors of Commerce, Arts, and Science degrees. Only four-year degree programs are considered equivalent.
What all documents are needed for application?
International applicants should ensure that the academic transcripts of all previous education are attached. If the original documents are not in English, then a certified translation should be attached with the original copies. English proficiency score report and other exam scores like GRE/GMAT also need to be submitted during the application process. Other documents included the application are:

UMASS Boston charges a non-refundable application fee of USD 100 for both undergraduate and graduate programs.
What is the fee structure of courses offered by the university?
The tuition fee for all programs is based on the number of credits undertaken by a student. A student’s credits in a semester can range from 1 to 12 or more. Apart from the tuition fee, there are several other costs such as other student fees, curriculum and service fees, which are added in the program fee. UMass Boston welcomes over 2,000 international students from 150 countries, speaking more than 60 languages. It has about 17,000 undergraduate and graduate students from a wide diversity of local and international backgrounds to enhance the educational experience for all. This is evident from the top countries represented in MBA Class of 2020 that comprised a diverse set of international students coming from India, China, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan and Vietnam. In Fall 2019, the university enrolled 12,595 students, including 10,780 in-state and 1,815 out-state students, which included over 200 Indian students.
Part Time Work While Studying
Can I work while studying here?
Yes, international students can work both on-campus and off-campus. Students with an F1 visa can work part-time on campus for up to 20 hours a week during term. During school breaks, they are allowed to work for 40 hours a week. There are no extra permissions required from ISSS for on-campus employment.
International students with a J-1 visa are allowed to work both on and off-campus, provided they produce written permission from their visa sponsor. The limit for on-campus employment work is 20 hours/week when the school is in session and 40 hours/week during vacations. Before indulging in any off-campus work, a new Form DS-2019 from the International Students and Scholars Office must be filled by J-1 visa holders.

Is on-campus housing available?
