Situated in Coral Gables in Florida, the University of Miami is a university based on private research. Established in the year 1925, it is a diverse academic institution with a primary focus on teaching, learning, and research. It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the baccalaureate, masters and doctoral degrees. It was placed 57th among national universities under U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Colleges" issue of the year 2019.
The main campus the University of Miami is spread over an area of 239 acres and is situated in Coral Gables. Most of the academic programs of the university are organized on the main campus which is home to 7 schools and 2 colleges. It also houses a theatre, the Jerry Herman Ring Theatre, where student musicals and plays are organized. The University of Miami Libraries (UML) rank among the top fifty research libraries in North America, drawing scholars from around the world through its important print collection of over 4 million volumes and 100,000 serial subscriptions, rare and unique special collections, state-of-the-art digitization and preservation facilities, and a staff of experienced professionals.

With 16,000 plus full and part-time working faculty and staff, the university has been regarded as a top 10 employer in the country Miami-Dade County.
