Scholarships & Financial Aid
Is there any scholarship or financial aid available for international students?
Though UMich has a wide array of scholarship and financial assistance for its students through federal regulations, there is a limited number of scholarships or financial aids available to international students.
Students with F-1, F-2, J-1, J-2, and G-series visas generally have enough resources to meet their expenses of study and stay in the USA, hence, are not eligible for financial aid. However, students with genuine need-based applications may be supported by federal regulations in some cases. Students coming to UMich for short-term courses are not eligible for any scholarship or financial assistance.

Application portal for both graduate and undergraduate and students is different. International students need to apply to UMich programs as follows:
Undergraduate Applicants:
Like every other US university, undergraduate applications for UMich are also done through either of:

- Coalition application: www.coalitionforcollegeaccess.org
Note: There is no advantage or disadvantage of using either of the portals. UMich does not favor one over the other.
Graduate Applicants:
The graduate application portal is different for each course and department. Therefore, all the graduate aspirants need to follow the steps of application as given below:
Step 1: Sign up on the university website.
Step 2: Locate the exact Graduate School where the students aspire to study.
Step 3: Choose the respective school/college and start with the application.
Step 4: Choose the program and course of study.
Step 5: Choose the exact course specialization.
Step 6: Read all the instructions carefully and click on ‘Apply’.
Step 7: Start filling the background details (academic and professional).
Step 8: Input the exam details (GRE/GMAT and IELTS/TOEFL scores).
Step 9: Upload the supporting documents.

When will I hear from the university after I submit my application?
It takes about 8-12 weeks for the admission committee to announce the admission results. It means that the students who applied during mid-November would get the admission decisions by the end of January.
