Located in Columbia in Missouri, the campus of the university is spread across 1,262 acres and is maintained as a lush green botanical garden in Downtown Columbia. The academic buildings of the university are categorized into 2 main groups that include Red Campus and White Campus. Red Campus is the historical campus which houses Switzler Hall and Jesse Hall. White Campus forms the new building built in Neo-Gothic style. The University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics' main campus is situated north of the sports complex. It is home to the Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital and the University of Missouri Hospital. The University of Missouri is a member of the American Universities' Association. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has even designated it as "Doctoral/Research Extensive" university. It is organized into 7 colleges and 11 schools and hosts around 300 majors. It operates over 23 residence halls on-campus and at least other 2 off-campus sites. Moreover, it has one amongst the nation's oldest and largest Greek systems. The Greek community comprises around 22 per cent of the university's student population. MU even serves as the largest university of the state with an enrolment of around 30, 870 students in the year 2017 and 300-degree programmes. The university holds full-time faculty members with the highest degree in the disciplines.
