The University of Oregon is a public university governed by the Board of Trustees, located in Eugene, Oregon. The university campus is spread across more than 295 acres of land and is located along the Willamette River. It provides students with a beautiful natural view and ambience. What are the eligibility requirements?

The university has a program and country-specific requirements. Depending on the course, GPA and subjects requirements may also vary. For Indian aspirants, general requirements are:

Undergraduate Admissions: Indian aspirants must have Grade 12 board examination results to be considered for admission. These results must be issued by prominent examination boards, such as CBSE, ISC, AISSCE, etc.

Graduate Admissions: Students must have a bachelor’s degree awarded by a qualifying international institution or a four-year college or university of the United States of America. Such an educational institution must be regionally accredited. Other requirements such as GPA and required tests differ from one program to another. What all documents are needed for application?

International applicants need to send all official transcripts from all high schools and universities attended, as well as a bank statement, certificate of deposit, or scholarship letter equal to the cost of one academic year. Apart from this, the following documents are required during the application process.

Is there any application fees?

Yes, an application fee of USD 75 must be paid to apply to the University of Oregon. This application fee is non-refundable. Students can pay the application fee via the university’s admission portal.

Is there any scholarship or financial aid available for international students?

Oregon offers several types of financial aid for international students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Every year, the university awards more than USD 2.5 million in financial aid and scholarships to international students. Incoming freshmen (both domestic and international) who apply by mid-January are automatically considered for the General University Scholarship Program. Admission Process

When do the admissions start?

Oregon is open for admission all around the year, i.e., it has intakes in the fall, winter, spring, and summer sessions. International students need to follow these general deadlines, however, course and intake-specific deadlines can be found on the respective course pages:

What is the PG application process?

Graduate applicants need to apply directly to the university via the Oregon Application portal: connect.uoregon.edu/apply/. The process to apply using the university portal is as follows:

When will I hear from the university after I submit my application?

Undergraduate applicants that apply by the Early Action deadline, will receive a decision by mid-December 15. Those who apply before the regular deadline will receive a decision by the first week of April. Students will have time until May 1 to make a decision and send confirmation to the university. PG applications are processed within four to six weeks.

How many Indian/international students are studying at the university?

As per the university data, UOregon enrolled a total of 22,760 students, including 19,122 undergraduate and 3,638 graduate students. Part Time Work While Studying

Can I work while studying here?

Yes, a student can work while studying at the University of Oregon. Students may work up to 25 hours per week under the Federally Funded Work-Study Program. However, they must ensure that work does not interfere with their classes. Students may work while the classes are in session. Off-campus jobs are posted by the University of Oregon. Students can find them from the university’s employment database called Handshake. To access the system, students will be required to use their Duck IDs.

International students must apply for an F-1 student visa and comply with the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) rules relevant to F-1 students. They must register for and complete a full study course to secure a visa. This applies to each term of the academic year. International students with an F-1 visa cannot work more than 20 hours a week when engaged in part-time work during an ongoing academic session. For full-time work during annual vacations or school breaks, an F-1 international student cannot work more than 40 hours a week. After three consecutive terms of full-time study, students receive permission for an annual vacation term. On securing on-campus jobs, a signed Social Security Verification form must be submitted to the ISSS by international students. Students will then receive a Social Security Number (SSN) from the local Social Security Administration (SSA) office.

The University of Oregon has a large campus usually divided into five sections comprising 80 buildings and nine professional schools and colleges. The campus is further divided into these sections:

Is on-campus housing available?

Yes, on-campus housing is available at the University of Oregon. Living on campus is a great way of connecting with like-minded peers. First-year students at the university live in the residence halls. Returning students have the option of choosing on the campus or in private accommodation. Residence Halls

The majority of residence hall rooms are double rooms (meaning two beds in one room), but there are also triples, singles, and suite-style rooms. The rates listed below are for the winter/spring term and include a Carson Limited meal plan. Fall term rates are higher due to additional days, which can be found on the university website.
