The University of South Dakota (USD) is a public co-educational research university. It was founded by the Dakota Territory legislature in the year 1862. It is regarded as the Flagship University for South Dakota and is also said to the oldest public university of the state. Of-late, it is one amongst the six public institutions that are governed by the South Dakota Board of Regents.

Since the year 1913, the university has been continuously accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. According to the 2018 U.S. News & World Report, the University of South Dakota was recognized as one of the best "National Universities." of America. The university is home to the only medical and law schools of the state. As of the year 2019, it has 7 schools and colleges that offer around 202 undergraduate and 78 graduate programs. And, these programs include School of Law, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Fine Arts, School of Education, Beacom School of Business, School of Health Sciences and School of Medicine. For the 2019 Fall, the university witnessed an enrolment of 9,920 students, out of which 7,475 were enrolled in undergraduate and 2,445 were enrolled in graduate programs. There are about 120 plus organizations and clubs that feature an enriching university experience for the students here.

The institution is well-known for its celebrated alumni network comprised of 70,000 plus members. The alumni family of the institution includes notable personalities in several fields like journalism, politics, and government. Some of the distinguished members that constitute the university's alumni include Al Neuharth, founder of the USA Today; Greg Mortenson, author of Stones into Schools; Tom Brokaw, American broadcaster; former U.S. Senator James Abourezk and present U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson.

A. University of South Dakota’s graduate programmes looks at a variety of factors when making admissions decisions, including a review of a student’s academic performance, personal statements, resume, etc. That being said, a 54.5 percentage would typically surpass the minimum GPA required by most MS programs at USD. A transcript evaluation would need to be completed to determine the exact GPA on a 4.0 scale. These evaluations can typically be done within the university office.

Q. Does the University of South Dakota have rolling admissions?

A. Yes; the MS Computer Science, MBA, MS Business Analytics, and several other master’s programmes offer rolling admission and typically provide decisions on complete applications within two to four weeks. All undergraduate programs offer rolling admissions, with decisions on complete applications returned in less than two weeks. NOTE: The Fall application deadline is June 1st and the spring application deadline is October 15th.

Affordable tution fees and good faculty

Tips: The college fee is affordable, students can take advanced courses from the field of Artificial intelligence and Machine learning. Professors are industry experienced and they teach tough concepts in easy way. So, its easy to understand and from basics they teach you.

Likes (Part time work): The University has various on-campus jobs from GA/RA/TA to IT service desk/Library/Gamer services etc. There is a job portal where we can apply to multiple jobs and get selected. During winter/summer breaks also we can find part time...
