The University of Toledo is a public research university located in Toledo, Ohio. What all documents are needed for application?


All academic transcripts should be sent directly to the university from the issuing institution. These documents are required in the English language. If not, students are advised to get them translated into English. Other documents required during the application process are:

Is there any application fees?


The university charges an application fee of USD 40 for undergraduate and graduate students. The application fee is non-refundable. Students can pay the fee via Mastercard, credit cards, or Visa.

Scholarships & Financial Aid


Is there any scholarship or financial aid available for international students?


More than 75% of the students at the university receive scholarships and grants. International applicants can avail of the following scholarships and awards:

  • International Rocket Award: A scholarship of USD 7,500 to USD 8,500 is awarded to undergraduate and postgraduate students based on academic excellence and merit. Students are required to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 to 3.5 or higher to get the scholarship. Students who will have a GPA of 3.0 to 3.5 will receive a scholarship of USD 7,500 and students with a GPA of more than 3.5 will receive USD 8,500 as a scholarship.
  • Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship: A scholarship of USD 1,000 per year is offered to both undergraduate and postgraduate students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5. International students are required to give proof of Phi Theta Kappa Membership.

Other than that, students can also opt for third-party scholarships. These scholarships are not associated with the university. Students can refer to the university website for more details on external scholarships.


Admission Process


When do the admissions start?


Majorly, the university has two intakes – Spring and Fall. The generic application deadlines for international students are as follows:

What is the UG application process?


All undergraduate applicants need to apply via the Common Application portal only.


What is the PG application process?


Graduate applicants can apply to the university directly via its online application system: apply.utoledo.edu/prod/bwskalog.p_disploginnew.

You can follow these steps to fill your application online:

Step 1: Create a new account as a first time user.

 

 

Step 2: Select your application type after creating your account.

 

 

Step 3: Fill in your personal details such as first name, last name, and select the admission term.

 

 

Step 4: Fill in your address, gender, postal address, PIN, educational details, citizenship details, demographic details, contact information, etc. Upload all the required documents like Resume, letters of recommendation, address proof, etc.

 

 

Step 5: After filling in all the relevant sections, review and submit the application on the portal.

The acceptance rate of the university is 95%. It means that out of 100 students, 95 students are selected. Despite the high acceptance rate, the university is selective. All the applications are assessed individually and fairly by the university. If students meet the minimum requirements, chances of getting selected are high. Some programs might require interviews and auditions to get admission.

Part Time Work While Studying


Can I work while studying here?


International students are allowed to work on- and off-campus at the university. Students can work for a maximum of 20 hours a week during the semester. During vacations and holidays, students can work for more than 20 hours or full-time. The eligibility requirements for international students to work in the university are as follows:

  • Students must have J-1 or F-1 status
  • Students are required to have a valid work permit
  • Students must be enrolled in a full-time program at the university
  • Undergraduate students are required to register a minimum of 12 credits per semester and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 throughout the program
  • Graduate students are required to register a minimum of 9 credits per semester and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 throughout the program

Off-Campus Employment

Off-campus employment for international students includes the following:

  • Optional Practical Training (OPT)

The main campus of the university is located in Toledo, Ohio with other campuses and centres of the university in Lake Erie Center, Center for Visual Arts, and Scott Park Campus. The university consists of nine academic schools and colleges through which grants degrees and certificates.


Is on-campus housing available?


The University of Toledo offers on- and off-campus housing facilities to the students. The residence halls of the university include President’s Hall, Ottawa House, International House, McKinnon Hall, Scott Hall, Tucker Hall, etc. The facilities of the rooms include bedroom furniture, internet access, dining facility, laundry rooms, lounge spaces, meeting spaces, computer labs, exercise rooms, Cable, TV, printers, etc. The rates of residence halls are as follows:
