The University of Wisconsin Madison – School of Library and Information Studies Placements Overview Class of 2015
The School of Library and Information Studies (SLIS) witnessed the graduation of 86 master’s students in May, August, and December 2015. The majority, about 92% of graduates reported being employed within months of graduating. From the graduating Class of 2015, 26% of the students reported finding jobs before graduation and 23% returned to a previous employer. Most students chose to work in public or academic libraries. About 20 students from 86 graduates were employed within the SLIS itself. A significant portion of the graduates also reported employment in other information environments including government agencies, private industry, non-profits and vendors. The mean salary reported was USD 46,135 and the median salary was reported to be USD 50,000.

More than 90% of the students in the Wisconsin MBA Class of 2013 secured job offers within three months of graduation, and 89% accepted those offers. The average starting salary saw a rise to USD 95,066, an increase of more than USD 3,400 from its previous year. The median starting salary was USD 97,250, a competitive offer nationally. First-year students also sought internship opportunities and 99% of them were successful in securing an offer. Many of these internships turned into full-time employment after graduation.
