American College Testing or ACT is a standardized test for students looking for admission to undergraduate schools in the US and Canada. The exam has been developed to evaluate the written, mathematical, verbal and scientific skills of the candidates. Students looking to appear for their ACT are required to register online for the exam by creating their student profile. The results are published on the official website of the exam and students who have successfully appeared for the exam can check their results by logging into their ACT student account. Students appearing for their ACT will be relieved to know that there are no eligibility criteria to appear for the exam. Students of all ages and grade levels are eligible to take the ACT exam.

ACT Scoring

Before we jump into answering your question, let us first understand how the ACT is scored. Each section of the ACT (English, Math, Reading, and Science) is scored on a 1 to 36 point scale. The composite score is the average of all four tests. Students taking the optional writing test will receive a writing score on 1 to 36. The writing score does not affect the composite score.

ACT Superscoring

Now to answer your question on ACT Superscoring. Superscoring is a process under which the college considers the student’s highest scores for every section across all the dates he has appeared for the exam. So colleges that super score ACT is those colleges that take into consideration the student’s highest Math, Science, Reading and English scores that the student has achieved on all the dates he has appeared for the ACT exam. The college/university would then calculate an average of the highest section scores together for a new composite score for that particular student.
